It feels like last weekend the city went into full gear for the holidays. There are lights on the trees lining the streets and everyone is bundled up in their winter jackets. One of the things we love about the holidays is sharing a meal with people we love. That being said, it can also be a very pressuring time – sometimes you just feel like the food has to be just right. Not sure what to make this year? Here’s what we’ll be eating for the holidays.
- Pork Tenderloin
- Roasted Chicken/Turkey, substituting olive oil for butter
- Parsnip Stuffing
- Sweet Potato Casserole
- Dinner Rolls (coming Dec 8)
- Easy Herb Bread
- Reduce your pan drippings (or stock), and remove most of the fat from the top. Season (I use a number of herbs, dry white wine and some pepper). To thicken, combine equal parts potato starch and cold water, starting with 2 tbsp of each. Mix together into a slurry and bring the stock up to a boil. Pour in the slurry, 1 tbsp at a time, and whisk vigorously to incorporate. Wait a couple of seconds to see what impact it has, and then repeat to desired consistency. If too thick, add more stock and stir.
- Pumpkin Cupcakes
- Gingerbread Cupcakes
- Cookies! Get ready for some serious cookie action in December.
